Symbian mobile phones use Symbian operating system which is the most ubiquitous operating system in the mobile phones market. A very improved version of its predecessor EPOC which was built by Psion Symbian operating system enjoys the biggest penetration among all operating systems. With most of the mobile phone manufacturers either already a part of Symbian family or likely to become one, share of Symbian mobile phones is only going to increase from here on.

To make Symbian operating system more advanced and also share the benefits with everyone in 2009 a non-profit organization was formed in the name of Symbian Foundation which aims to use Symbian OS for transforming the user experience. With a major share of mobile phones including the smartphones already with Symbian OS the future surely seems to belong to Symbian mobile phones.

Symbian Mobile Phones:

If you are already using a mobile phone then chances are that you just might be using a Symbian mobile phone. And if you have picked your next one even then it is highly likely that you have chosen a mobile phone that runs on Symbian OS. This in fact is due to the reach of one of the most commonly used mobile phone operating systems.

One of the most common examples of Symbian mobile phones which is also among the most widely used is Nokia which is followed by others like Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson. After the present name of Symbian was adopted Nokia 9210 Communicator which was released in 2001 became the first ‘open’ Symbian OS mobile phone to be launched in the market. Beginning with the Symbian OS v6.0 to what is now available in the market is Symbian 9 series which extends up to Symbian OS 9.5.

Nokia S60 Series: Nokia in any case is the brand that has maximum number of mobile phones which use Symbian OS but its S60 series is the most enriched in terms of mobile phones which are based on it. Nokia mobile phones which are built on Symbian OS include models like Nokia N73, Nokia 5300, Nokia 93i and Nokia N81. Some of the latest mobile phones launched by Nokia based on Symbian which are among the smartphones,`business phones and music phones which are ruling the market are Nokia N97, Nokia E71 and Nokia 5530 XpressMusic. A major role in making Nokia so popular and useful has been played by the Symbian operating system.

Others: There are many other mobile phone manufacturers which have adopted Symbian operating system for some of their models. LG KT610, Samsung i8910 Omnia and Sony Ericsson G900 are some of the Symbian mobile phones which can become a part of your life.

Symbian mobile os may have been the most popular one but Google's android is moving fast to catch up or even dethrone symbian from top position. There are already a plenty of Android phones that have become hugely popular. I agree that Nokia-Symbian marriage gives Symbian phones an edge but this will also become a bottleneck for symbian os. Low priced Nokia Mobiles is one reason why Symbian has become so prevalent. But free Google Android phones are here too. How will Symbian survive?
