Blue Star Split ACs
Blue Star, known for its cooling solutions, has recently upgraded its Split AC arsenal with 3 new types of air conditioners. The company believes that the new products would have a significant impact in the Split AC market segment. The 3 categories are Inverter Split, Star rated Hi Wall Split and Mega Split. The newly launched ACs are highly efficient-both on performance and reducing your monthly electricity bill. There are some key differences in the 3 categories in terms of capacity, price and technology employed. Let’s explore them in some more detail.
Blue Star Inverter Split ACs These are termed as ‘inverter’ because the compressor changes frequency according to the ambient load. The RPM (Rounds Per Minute) of the compressor changes according to the changes in frequency. This ensures that any temperature fluctuations are taken care of and a comfortable temperature is maintained. To illustrate, a 1.5 ton Air Conditioner can operate at a reduced capacity of 1 ton or an increased capacity of 1.75 tons, as per the requirement. Further, it saves up to 30% more power because of the absence of cut in and cut off. A particularly interesting feature is that these AC’s come with a heat pump that is very helpful in severe winters. Also, the ozone depletion quotient is virtually zero as it uses the environment friendly refrigerant (R410A). With powder coated outer body, the AC looks cool. ‘I Feel’ is the latest innovation of Blue Star. ‘I Feel’, as the name suggests, strives to put user comfort first. The wireless remote control of the AC comes fitted with a mini sensor which records the surrounding temperature and transmits it to the indoor unit of the air conditioner. The indoor unit then adjusts the temperature accordingly, ensuring an appropriate temperature around the user and not the unit, thus enhancing user comfort. They are available in 1.5 and 2 tons. The inverter split AC is priced around Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 60,000. Star Rated High-Wall Split ACs These are available in 5, 3 and 2 star energy rating variants, as certified by the BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency). They are loaded with auto restart feature with memory backup and long distance piping flexibility. They employ multiple filters to ensure that the air in the room is cleansed thoroughly of any unwanted foreign particles, bacteria and other micro-organisms. The filters employed are: Carbon Filter and Electrostatic Filter, Catechin Filter, Silver Ion Filter, Bio and Eco Filter, Dust Filter, Anti-Bacterial Filter, Anti-Acerian Filter and Vitamin C Filter. The ‘I Feel’ feature is included in the 5 and 3 Star variants, but not in 2 Star variant. They are available in 1 and 1.5 tons. The 5 star rated Z model (1.5 tons) is priced at Rs. 34,000. Mega Split ACs They are termed as Mega owing to high tonnage capacity (2.5 tons and 3.0 tons). They are wall mounted with the power of a ducted system in a single unit. In fact, no ducting is required with these ACs which results in faster and economical installation. The 3 phase compressor ensures longer life and reduction in energy bill. The mega split ACs are priced at around Rs. 40,000. Blue Star like other AC brands is promoting its Air Conditioners heavily in India this season. The company is aiming for mega sales as the summer picks up. Blue Star AC prices are slightly higher than other AC brands like Samsung, Whirlpool, LG, Voltas etc. but they will appeal to customers looking for high end cooling and comfort solutions.
