When we were kids, we were given the task of washing diyas (earthen pots) and drying them a day before Diwali. After the usual Puja, we used to light them and decorate our homes with diyas. Everyone used to gather up, burst crackers, have sweets and play cards. With changing times, people have become busier and managing so many things on Diwali becomes an extra task. But, with a little effort, you can plan out other things and keep the spirit of Diwali alive.

With changing times, these days, every shopping mall, movie theater and game parlors are decorated for the Diwali eve. You can plan out different thing this Diwali. You can plan out some get together as well. Why not order some yummy food and call over your friends and family? You can spend the evening chatting, playing games or just relaxing. This will rejuvenate you in the holidays.

You can plan out a nice evening with your family, go out for movies and have fun. Movies like Ra. One is set to release on Diwali. The tickets gets costly but if you pre plan for this day then advance tickets could be a great relief. There are some restaurants which have Diwali special meal plans, you can sit there, have food and have a gala time.

Come Diwali and we all get super excited, buy new clothes, sweets and decorate our houses. Even the people of west are trying to understand the real meaning behind these festivals and celebrating it. According to a famous Hollywood actress Julia Roberts, “Diwali should be celebrated around the world by people, cutting across religions and cultures, as it is a festival of light, good spirits and the death of evil. The festival should not be restricted to Hindus and could be celebrated by the whole humanity.”

It is a personal choice how you celebrate Diwali. It doesn’t matter if you celebrate Diwali the traditional way or by watching movies, the end result should be happiness, togetherness and spending some quality time with the near and dear ones. The essence of Diwali should not be lost in between all these.
