BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the very first smartphone from RIM to offer a slide out qwerty keyboard. It's also the very first phone model to run on RIM's brand new BlackBerry OS 6. These two new introductions combined make BlackBerry Torch not only impressive but a very refreshing smartphone from Research in Motion.

It had been a while since we saw something new, something innovative from the Canada based BlackBerry maker. BlackBerry Torch brings freshness to the smartphone that's hugely popular among corporate users across the globe. It's hard to talk about smartphones without a reference to RIM's iconic BlackBerry but the company didn't appear to do enough to stay stop the game until it unveiled BlackBerry Torch 9800. For the most part, the device has impressed not only BlackBerry fans but critics as well.

The new operating system BlackBerry OS 6 brings many enhancements over its predecessor. The prominent features that OS 6 introduces include a fluid interface, enhanced multimedia experience, and an improved web browser. Overall a rich user experience. New pinching and zooming features make it easier to view photographs or videos. You can swipe between web pages with ease. Integrated social media features allow you to instantly share your photos, videos, or messages  on FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, and more.

A slide-out qwerty keyboard along with an onscreen keyboard, bring ultimate flexibility to BlackBerry. The device is first from RIM to offer a slide out keyboard. It's a nicely designed keyboard that when you slide out doesn't cause weight to shift over to the phone body making it harder to type. The keys are nicely placed and are comforting for fingers. You have the option to use the on screen keyboard for quick texting but for longer typing you can switch to the physical keyboard. It's a smart move by the smartphone maker to combine both the options in one set. It makes BlackBerry Torch a unique option.

Featuring a 5 mega pixel camera, BlackBerry Torch is not just a corporate phone. It brings all the fun packed in it. RIM has revamped the home screen of the phone making it a lot cleaner and easier to use. The in-built camera features auto focus and video recording capability as well.

In looks BlackBerry Torch doesn't offer anything new. It wears a standard BlackBerry look - compact, professional, and robust. The phone has everything to challenge the likes of iPhone and Nokia N8.
