Samsung’s fondness for Google Android continues. The Korean company just launched its newest Galaxy phone, the Continuum. The key highlight of this Android phone is its dual-screen. The phone looks impressive featuring a main screen and a ticker, the second screen, right below that.
Many rightly compared Samsung Continuum to Samsung Fascinate which features a larger screen but looks similar. The only difference is that Continuum has two screens and the primary screen is only 3.4 inch compared to 4 inch Fascinate screen. So there is some give and take but the idea of a Dual Screen Android phone is great. It’s like splitting the hardware into two and activating only the required side thus saving on battery life. For example, Samsung Continuum allows you to check SMS’s without opening the main screen. You can view them in the small ticker area. Similarly music/audio controls can be managed from the ticker screen itself. So the dual-screen is definitely a smarter choice.

The phone is also lighter compared to many of its rivals such as Motorola Droid. It looks and feels great in hand. The shape and contours of the phone feel natural. It's only 1.8 inch thick. You can comfortably hold it for long. And, you’ll love the response time of the phone. Samsung AMOLED screens have won many fans already but this one brings speed to your finger tips. Running on 1GHz Hummingbird processor, Continuum is sure to impress you with its efficiency.
What’s bit disappointing about Samsung Continuum is the fact that it runs on Android 2.1 and update to 2.2 will not be available all that soon because of the very highlight of the phone i.e. the ticker screen. Since the 2nd ticker screen makes the phone special, the android update for it also needs to be special. The company promises that it will be out soon and while promises are good let’s be realistic.
The phone offers 5 mega pixel camera and 720p camcorder to allow you to capture both pictures as well as videos. You’ll also like its pre-installed 8GB memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB. That’s plenty of storage to pile up your favorite photos, music, and videos.
In US, the phone will be available from November 11 for $200 with 2 year contract with Verizon.
Overall it's an excellent handset that will find many buyers because of its dual screen.
