It's always tempting to buy something that stands out. ASUS is renowned brand so must have put the notebook through enough conditions to test its durability and various other aspects. But as a buyer of all-new technology, I would get answers to the following before I buy this new ASUS Bamboo U6V notebook.

  1. What happens to the bamboo touch-pad and rest area on long usage? I wouldn't care about the cover as much. But I don't want the touch-pad and arm rest area to get any rough and cause discomfort.
  2. Wood may be good but it's not metal. It's more prone to wear and tear. How do you keep it safe and if it does go bad how much would it cost me to get it repaired? Where will I go for repair?

Having raised those questions, what gives me peace of mind is the two years global warranty offer from ASUS. ASUS obviously knew that consumers like me will have concerns to adopt to a completely new notebook technology.

I can't believe I am seeing a notebook large part of which is actually made of natural bamboo. Mind boggling! Same bamboo that I thought only gets used in furniture and blinds? This is innovation at rediculous levels.
