Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR Camera Launched

Canon USA launched EOS 7D, a new midrange DSLR, that the imaging company claims will open up a new chapter in digital photography. Targeted at both professional and advanced amateurs, camera surely brings some impressive new features which along with attractive price tag rekindle the competition between Nikon and Canon.

Sporting an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, 19 point autofocus (AF) system, an intelligent viewfinder, and 8fps shooting, the new Canon EOS 7D raises the midrange camera standards. It also includes Canon's Dual DIGIC 4, an advanced imaging processor which is the real engine behind EOS 7D's efficient and high resolution photography.

The highlight of Canon EOS 7D is its advanced AF (Auto Focus) system. It is made of a multi axis  cross type 19 point grid. The focusing points are f/5.6 sensitive. This is the first time a camera is offering cross-type focusing points that work their magic both with maximum aperture as well as f/5.6. It supports many new focusing modes giving extreme flexbility and reliability to the photographers. The prominent focusing modes includ:

• Spot AF - With spot AF mode you can capture small subjects. This mode reduces the size of a single autofocus point so you can crisply focus on a small subject.
• AF Point Expansion - This mode lets you expand your focus automatically as your subject moves. Once you select a AF point, this mode automatically selects the neighboring AF points so when the subject moves you don't lose the focus. With this new DSLR you can select any of the 19 points as your starting AF point.
• Zone AF - This mode divides the 19 AF points into 5 zones making it convenient to capture subjects that can move in varied angles.

 The Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR breaks new grounds in low-light photography. It brings a new iFCL (Intelligent Focus, Color, Luminance) metering system that gives photographers better control over their shots. It analyzes not just the lighting conditions but also the color and accordingly meters the exposure. The system is intelligent enough to produce great pictures with stable exposure even when the light source changes.

And it's not just the still photography that this Canon camera revolutionizes, video recording also gets new arms and brains. The camera lets you record full HD video at 1920x1080 resolution. You can control the video shooting frame rate as well as the exposure. You may opt to record full HD, HD in 16:9 aspect ratio, or SD in 4:3 aspect ratio. And you can select the frame rate in all these modes.

To win the midrange DSLR users, Canon has introduced many features and control on popular demand. For example, a new button lets the users activate the on-screen menu. Another button toggles the file formats quickly. The camera also boasts about an ergonomic design and wireless connectivity that opens up new possibilities in digital photography.
