HTC Droid Eris is the latest Google Android mobile phone from HTC. Interestingly both Motorola and HTC chose the "droid" of Android to name their new phones. The mobile phone runs on Qualcomm MSM 7600 528MHz processor. It's a slim mobile phone with bar type form factor. The phone doesn't offer much over the HTC Hero. When compared with Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris is  behind - it doesn't come with a physical keyboard, and runs the older version of Google Android OS.

HTC Droid Eris sports a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen. The high resolution screen looks brilliant even in bright sunlight. The onscreen virtual keyboard is comfortable to use - it adjusts with the orientation of the phone automatically. The curved mobile phone has a smooth look to it. In hands it feels very similar to Apple iPhone. And of course, HTC doesn't seem to have any plans to change its classic black color. Not that it looks bad but may be it's about time to try something new.

The biggest dampener for HTC Droid Eris is the fact that it runs on Google Android 1.5, the world has gone far ahead with 2.0. Motorola Droid for example runs on 2.0. But what's exciting is that Droid Eris is among the cheapest android phones. It only costs $99 with Verizon Wireless service. The brilliant touch sensitive display of Droid Eris is among the best displays available in the mobile market. The response time is good and it's menu is easy to navigate. Droid Eris lets you personalize the home screen icons and other settings.

The 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and video capability brings the fun component to the HTC Droid Eris. Powered with social media features the Droid Eris is a delight for mobile users who like being in constant touch with their friends and social networking websites. The phone comes with 288MB memory. The phone weighs 4.23 ounces.  It comes loaded with Microsoft Mobile Office and other Google goodies (read google search, maps, gmail, gtalk) that keep you connected to both information and people.
