Is Apple iPad living up to the hype

Exquisite screen of Apple iPad can grab your attention from feets away. Many want to buy this iconic tablet of 2010. Yes, the price is not a detterent for Apple fans. A price tag of $650 for a Wi-Fi only 32GB version is not cheap but still industry experts predict heavy sales of the device. Holiday season is nearing so soon we will know how well the tablet did with consumers. But from the numbers so far, it appears that it wont break iPhone sales record. iPad is popular among buyers this season but the craze is not close to what we had seen with iPhone. If you already have a netbook and a smartphone - you are less likely to buy a tablet.

We cannot deny that price tag will be a hurdle for many in this slow recovering US economy. When you buy an iPad, you cannot avoid buying a case for it as without it you risk damaging the silky touch screen of the device. And guess what, little things like this add to the bill. What makes it still attractive is the fact that the tablet is very handy, lighter than a netbook, comes with long battery life, and offers excellent screen space to work upon. The on screen keyboard is cool, response time is superb, and of course it looks super cool. If you compare it with a netbook purchase, iPad will win if all the buyer wants to do is consume content. Many see it as an enlarged version of Apple iPhone. Similar icons, similar keyboard -- what has Apple invented is size.

Apple iPad

Apple iPad is not a replacement for netbook if you want to create stuff. A habitual computer user will find it difficult to use a machine without a physical keyboard and mouse. But you will love it if you are looking for a larger and smarter iPod because that's what it really is. If you plan to use it as a e-book reader, a great idea but you will find it heavier than rival book readers. If you start looking for smartphone features then first thing you'll miss in iPad is a camera. In summary, there are quite a few things that Apple fans would have to ignore to buy the device. Those who cannot ignore will prefer waiting for next version of iPad as that will hopefully fill these gaps.

Whatever value the gadget brings, Apple knows how to create a positive buzz about its products and it has successfully managed to do that with iPad as well. In emerging markets such as India Apple iPad is doing remarkably better than iPhone. And you never know just because the device brings a whole new concept, its sales might just pick up during holiday season.
