Samsung Galaxy S, Is this the smartphone you were looking for?

There are smartphones and there are “smart” phones. Samsung Galaxy S is a strong contender for being called not just a smartphone but a “smart” phone. This can be attributed to Samsung’s innovative and impressive technologies and also to the rising competition that demands nothing less than extraordinary from brands every time they launch a new model. Having been among the leaders, Samsung would know how to be the best and this particular mobile phone is a proof of the same in more than one way.

Samsung Galaxy S boasts of a huge screen measuring 4 inch (102 mm) diagonally and still a very comfortable overall phone size of 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9mm. In fact in spite of such a big size the phone still weighs less than 120g. It does make a great impression though it does seem to have one weakness as well. The material and overall make of the case do not generate the kind of confidence that you expect from a phone of this range and segment.

Coming back to the things that help this phone stand out, it is the Super AMOLED screen that Samsung Galaxy S has (the exclusive hallmark of Samsung phones) which makes it even more desirable. Vivid, bright, saturated, in short awesome colors of the screen with 800x480 resolution make this phone the clear winner among all its competitors. To add more power to the phone, Samsung is offering a perfect mix of hardware and touch-sensitive controls; a combination of minimal, optimal and desired controls.

Powered by its own 1GHz Hummingbird processor, Samsung Galaxy S has more than enough power to handle multiple applications simultaneously. It has Android 2.1 operating system and Samsung ensures that you can upgrade the same to the latest version of the OS (in next couple of months). Thus, with this model you always move with the technology and get the best of what there is in the market.

The other major test of any smartphone is its connectivity and web surfing capabilities, points where Samsung Galaxy S is second to none. It has triband (900/1900/2100 HSDPA/HSUPA) connectivity and supports 3G. Not to forget the latest Wi-Fi (b/g/n) advanced Bluetooth (3.0) and usual microUSB (2.0). What’s better, its AllShare feature implies you can stream multimedia across Wi-Fi capable devices; be it an audio system, a TV, laptop or the like. Your “smart” phone can even double as a remote, if you want it to.

The other notable hallmarks of Samsung Galaxy S are its Social Hub and Mini Diary features. The Social Hub ensures common stream of social media networks (including Facebook and Twitter) and Mini Diary is for creating journal entries (text notes, photos and more). Qik video chat and Swype are also there in the phone to make it the one that you would want to own.

There are plenty of other features like a multimedia player (supports MPEG4, H.264, DivX, FLV, OFF and FLAC too), 5 MP camera (but unfortunately no LED flash), 720p HD video recording at 30fps, 8 or 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 32GB), proximity and light sensors, digital compass and many more, which make sure that Samsung Galaxy S is the “smart” phone and can live up to the buzz that it has managed to create ever since its launch.

This is an exciting new addition to Samsung mobile family. Check out all the cool Samsung mobile phones on TolMol, compare mobile phone prices, and buy at discounted prices.
