Sony NEX Digital Cameras

Digital SLR's are expensive beasts so not everyone can afford them. Even if affordability is not an issue, not everyone would be comfortable using them. And that's why Sony has launched Nex Series of Digital Cameras that are simple to use and give the photography quality and flexibility of a DSLR while being a lot cheaper and lighter.

Digital SLR's are designed for professional photographers or true photography enthusiasts who are comfortable using their features such as interchangeable lenses etc. For the rest of us, a point and shoot camera works best. DSLR's are also expensive compared to Digital Cameras and there is no need to spend huge money on them if you cannot fully leverage them. Sony's revolutionary series of digital cameras, the NEX series of cameras, almost matches the quality and features offered by the DSLR cameras and are significantly lower priced than them. For this, electronics giant Sony has incorporated a huge image sensor into a compact frame. This translates to an interchangeable lens Digital Still Camera which makes it possible to take outstanding quality pictures without the elaborate paraphernalia of standard DSLR cameras.

The Sony NEX series of digital cameras is equipped with an image sensor that is approximately 14 times the size of a conventional compact camera’s sensor. The main advantage of the bigger sensor is that the subject of your photograph stands out while the background looks softer. Low-light photography also becomes a cake-walk with an advanced image sensor. These cameras are lightweight too. Sony Nex-5 is a 14.2 megapixel camera that allows 7fps continuous shooting. Offers 3" LCD screen and a detachable Flash.

People generally do not like when they look like a photographer when all they need to do is to take memorable snaps of the special family moments. But, with conventional DSLR cameras, you inadvertently end up looking like one (a photographer). NEX cameras come to rescue here. If DSLR and NEX series are compared on a size to size and weight to weight basis, then NEX series of cameras are about half the size and weight of a typical DSLR camera.

If you wish to do HD video recording, then don’t worry. The NEX-5 model will do the job for you. It is the first interchangeable lens camera with full HD 1920x1080/60i AVCHD movie recording. The interchangeable lens digital camera system is designed to tackle continuous auto focus and exposure adjustment while recording video. Another feature of particular interest is the Sweep Panorama mode. If you need to capture vast expanses like landscapes or city scenes, turn on the Sweep Panorama mode and get set to be amazed by the stunning photos which the camera takes for you!

Further, the Auto High-Dynamic Range shooting, Handheld Twilight, and Anti-motion-blur modes strategically combine and align several images into one seamless one. Both the Sony NEX-5 and Sony NEX-3 accept Memory Stick Pro Duo/ Pro-HG Duo /Pro-HG HX Duo and SD, SDHC, and SDXC media. TruBlack technology ensures that shooting indoors as well as outdoors is a pleasant experience! Battery life also is pretty impressive. One can easily get around 300 shots per charge with the Sony NEX-5.

Overall, the Sony NEX series is designed specifically for consumers who are looking for a do-it-all camera with good quality at reasonable prices. Currently, the NEX series cameras are selling like hot-cakes in the market. You too will not be disappointed for sure!
