What's next for Sony Bravia LCD TV

Home> Blogs> Tech TolMol> What's next for Sony Bravia LCD TV

Sony Bravia LCD TVs made a mega splash on Indians a couple of years ago. It was presented as super television with an all new TV technology that brought pictures alive on its screen. The aggressive ad campaign around festival season in India saw Sony selling Bravia like cakes. But other TV brands weren't going to sit and watch the growing dominance of Sony Bravia. They upgraded their own TV technologies each claiming to offer the best of the breed picture quality, energy efficiency, slimmer screens, and wider capabilities. And the war is just heating up. Shoppers can expect many more fireworks in the upcoming Diwali season.

I wonder what would Sony's strategy be this festival season in India. Its rival Samsung is quick to steer buyers in its direction. It successfully did so with LED TVs. It's no secret that Samsung LED TVs were much more expensive than traditional LCD TVs but buyers still loved them. Samsung made them do so. As anticipated Sony has caught up on the LED technology. Its latest Sony NX700 and Sony NX800 series use edge LED technlogy. These two Sony LCD TV series also support internet video. So Sony fans can view their favorite shows from YouTube. Which is great but when would Sony introduce its very first 3D television. All major TV brands are launching their 3D TV models. Haven't heard anything from Sony's TV factor yet. Will this Diwali see a Sony 3D TV? And how would that look like?

India has been a lucrative TV market for Sony Electronics. But the future of Sony Bravia will depend upon how Sony competes with the likes of Samsung and LG. The price war alone won't determine the leader. Samsung proved at global level that shoppers are ready to make extra for better and improved TV viewing experience. Sony will have to be on the offensive not defensive - It needs to set new standards in TV technology instead of trying to match up to what competitor is offering. Sony is an excellent TV, and electronics in general, brand in India but it has to continually re-discover and reinforce itself.

Sony's latest LCD TVs are bringing a nice set of social media features. You can view Internet TV, download and watch videos, access and play music, join chat rooms and much more. But the fact remains that Samsung has built an impressive image for itself. Consumers believe that Samsung offers the blackest black which ensures the picture quality doesn't deteriotate in bright or dim light. The speed with which Samsung introduces new models, new technologies is amazing. Consumers love Samsung for that. Sony will find the road rough if it doesn't bring about a revolutionary TV technology to woo customers. Bravia Engine is one thing, edge lit LED another, and winning the war yet another!
